Interesting things that have caught my eye.
  • The total solar eclipse: the moon's dark disc ringed by the white glow of the corona, with a bright burst of sunlight at its edge and a small rainbow lens flare off to the left, against a black sky.
  • A black bird in flight beside the snow-covered peak of the Matterhorn, wisps of cloud trailing from the summit into a deep blue sky.
  • An empty residential street at night, climbing a hill through fog lit by streetlights, with a lone chair on the sidewalk and a parked car under the trees.
  • A bumblebee in flight, wings blurred, heading toward a sprig of purple lavender, with more lavender stems soft against a blue sky behind.
  • A stop sign under leafy trees with "KILLING US" handwritten beneath "STOP", in front of a two-story house with a porch. A small "No Outlet" sign stands at the lower left.
  • A small white lighthouse with columns and a black lantern room at the end of a granite breakwater, its light on at dusk, with a rocky shore in front and calm water under a peach and lavender sky.
  • A white lighthouse and red-roofed keeper's house on a rocky headland, with waves breaking into a cove below and a second lighthouse far out at sea under a clear blue sky.
  • A small hummingbird perched on a thin bare branch among sunlit green leaves, its pale breast and green back half hidden in the foliage.
  • Looking down from a high balcony at a curving freeway full of cars, running past glass office towers and low buildings toward a flat horizon under heavy clouds.
  • Two sprigs of slender leaves glowing pale violet, cream and gold against a deep black background, one high on the right and one lower on the left.
  • A tall black-and-white mural covering the corner of a Paris building, with cartoon figures, spray cans and splashes of red, yellow, blue and pink, and the words "Ceci n'est pas un graffiti" near the top, against a deep blue sky.
  • A large papery hornet's nest hanging from a tangle of bare, budding branches, seen from below against a pale sky.
  • A northern mockingbird perched on a pale branch, looking straight at the camera, with a blurred green background.
  • A giant sculpture of an eyeball, its dark iris facing the camera, resting on a lawn in front of bare winter trees.
  • A tall mural on the side of a Paris building: a woman in a red dress and Phrygian cap holds a rifle and raises a blue-and-yellow Ukrainian flag, standing on a coiled black serpent above a fallen gas mask, under the words "Vive la résistance ukrainienne".
  • A "Ski Area Boundary, Exit Through Gates Only" sign on a post strung with rope, above a sweep of snow-covered mountains under a pale sky.
  • A rolled-down shop shutter spray-painted with a pug in a cap and pink glasses, in blues, pinks and orange, beneath a sign reading "The true art of painting is learned on the street."
  • A weathered white spring rocking horse with a carved saddle, tilted forward on its frame beside a fire hydrant, in front of a bare tree and a dark hedge.
  • A fuzzy white-and-black hickory tussock moth caterpillar with long black tufts, crawling across fine beach sand and casting a small shadow.
  • A sea snail on wet sand at low tide, seen from ground level, with pebbles, seaweed and shallow water glinting in low sunlight behind it.
  • A hand pressing strings against a cello's fingerboard, the fingers blurred with motion, against a plain grey background.
  • A close-up of a cello's f-hole, its curved cut-out glowing with light from inside the instrument, the rest falling into dark blur.
  • Looking through a cello's f-hole at the maker's label inside, printed "Louis Noebe" and "Bad Homburg" with a handwritten number, softly out of focus.
  • The edge of a cello's body where the waist curves into a corner, its dark varnished wood and inlaid purfling set against a white background.
